Head Coach Rodney Sink
Today Wakefield announced coach Rodney Sink will be taking over the reigns as our new head coach. Coach Sink has been with Wakefield for 8 years, coaching the offense and putting together some great plays. Coach Sink was behind the past 2011 record breaking offense, which may have been arguably our best offensive season here at Wakefield. The players have a deep respect of coach Sink and are very excited to have him as head coach and look forward to a great 2012 season.
Cap 8 All-Conference
Connor Mitch was named the Co-Player of the Year for the Cap 8 along with Leesville Road’s quarterback Austin Berrios. Other all-conference team-members are Hunter Willis, Jordan Fieulleteau, Matheus Teixeira, Chris Vaughan, Matt Anderson, Tanner McCaskey, Brad Yovanovich, and Harold Willis. The whole team is very proud of these young men and say with confidence, that they were a crucial part to a winning season.

|---|---|---|---|
| Wakefield | 18:44 | 55 | 393 |
| Heritage | 30:16 | 10 | 182 |
Another great win Friday night despite the horrible weather conditions. Heritage is a very young team but when I look across the field and see those coaches and players, they will be a force to reckon with in a year or two. My hat goes off to Wakefield for a great regular season record of 9-2 but now we have to look towards the playoffs. Next week Wakefield takes on Wilmington Laney at home, so come on out and support our first playoff game.
Friday Night Preview
Well, this week brings another close to our regular season game as we take on the Heritage Huskies. Tonight’s game will not go quietly as the forecast is cold and rainy but lets hope that’s the only unpleasant part of this evening. Game starts at 7:00 so bring your rain jacket and your wonderful cheering voice.
Wakefield vs. Broughton
| Team | Time of Possession | Score | Total Off. Yards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wakefield | 24:26 | 48 | 501 |
| Broughton | 23:34 | 21 | 307 |
Ok, that is the Wakefield team that I know. High scoring game with very few mistakes. It took a few plays for us to get our legs under us but when we did, it was the Connor show once again. Next week we take on Heritage at home for our last game of the regular season. See you then
Wakefield vs. Enloe

| Wakefield | 17:44 | 57 | 448 |
| Enloe | 30:16 | 45 | 458 |
Wakefield vs. Wake Forest
| Team | Time of Possession | Score | Total Off. Yards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wakefield | 18:47 | 13 | 214 |
| Wake Forest | 29:13 | 14 | 349 |
Well, Friday night turned out to be the worst game that we have played all year. If last week was our best offensive game for the year then Friday night was our worst offensive game for the year. We had less yardage for the whole game then we had in the 1st quarter in the previous game. We also had 45 yards of penalties stacked against us which was almost our total for the year prior to this game. I could go on and on but the picture is the same. For all the posts out there about how much Wake Forest is better than us and we just got beat by them because of that fact, I would have to disagree. Wake Forest did not beat Wakefield, Wakefield fiercely kicked their own butt Friday night and did it with style. So enough of the pity party and we will see you next week for homecoming.
Friday Night Preview
This is a big week for Wakefield as we take on the Cougars across the street at their stadium. The last time we stepped on to their field, they gave us a good stinging as we played the second game of the playoffs. So, of course we will be looking to avenge that blow and keep on moving. With Mitch commanding the offense, we will be looking forward to a repeat performance from last week’s record breaking game as well as the wolverine defense once again digging in their heels and working to stop the tough run game of Wake Forest. Sticking with the boxing theme coach Wilson started in the film, we just need to stick and move, making it through the rest of these rounds listening for the bell to, DING!
Wakefield vs. Leesville Rd
| Team | Time of Possession | Score | Total Off. Yards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wakefield | 21:56 | 58 | 748 |
| Leesville | 26:04 | 67 | 494 |
I am not sure where you come from but when an offense has 748 yards and still does not win, I call that crazy. We had our toughest time while kicking off and Leesville just out played us on special teams coming out with the win. This was a shoot out from the beginning as both Wakefield and Leesville went touchdown for touchdown, until Leesville got the upper hand in the 3rd quarter and the best Wakefield could do was follow close behind. This may not have been a win for Wakefield but at first glance Connor Mitch has in fact broken the NC State record for the most passing yards in a game, as he threw for 601 yards, mostly to Jordan Fielleteau. It appears also with his 66 passing attempts he breaks the state record by one. If that is not enough for you, it appears Mitch has tied the 2nd place record with 7 passing touchdowns in a game and Fielleteau has tied the 2nd place record with the most receptions in a game at 5. Long story short, this was a heck of a game and our kids played their hearts out. Next week we travel to Wake Forest for the ole rivalry and plan not to sit around and lick our wounds.
Friday Night Preview
Well, to say that Thursday night is a big game may be an understatement. Both Wakefield and Leesville are the only two undefeated teams left in the conference and simply put, after Friday night, only one will remain. This is promised to be our biggest game of the year yet, as the Pride rolls into Wolverine Stadium and the boys are surely convinced that our fans will not be disappointed. Game starts at 7:00 tomorrow night, so see you there and if you can’t make it, there is always our popular twitter feed brought to you live from the sidelines by Alex Gasper.
Wakefield JV vs. Leesville Rd
Congrats to the JV Football team for their win last Thursday vs the Leesville Road Pride. The team is really hitting its stride after struggling early in the season. QB Josh Lowery is coming into his own and is performing tremendously as he leads the Wolverine offense. The defense really stepped up big and shut down the Pride offensive attack keeping them from reaching the endzone. The only score for the Pride came off an interception return. Aside from that hiccup…all facets of the game were controlled by the Wolverines. QB Lowery threw for 5 TDs (2 to Patrick White, 1 to Nick Dennis, 1 to Kamren Ballen and 1 to Devin Stovall). Running Back David Chavis rushed for approx 160 yards and a TD. The Wolverine offense has averaged 37.6 points per game in the last three games. The Wolverine defense is reallying putting it all together and playing “lights out” football. The coaching staff couldn’t be more proud of our efforts and our level of fight. This tremendous group of young men makes us all excited to continue watching them grow as a team. This week Wakefield with host an unwelcome conference foe in the Wake Forest Cougars. This rivalry match-up will be an exciting game to watch. Come out and watch the future of Wakefield Football as we strive to Finish what we’ve started. 1 Game at a time…1 Championship at a time…FINISH 48
Wakefield vs. Millbrook
| Team | Time of Possession | Score | Total Off. Yards |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wakefield | 23:17 | 63 | 581 |
| Millbrook | 24:43 | 28 | 373 |
As Head Coach Dinwiddie rallied the troops around him, he began to ask them if they were fired up. Not fully convinced at that moment they were, Dinwiddie gave a traditional speech about how they needed to be and how we are going to go about winning the game. Flash forward to shortly before halftime, as the score is 49 to 14 and Connor Mitch is grinning ear to ear, Dinwiddie simply said to me, “I guess they were fired up.” As Wakefield put Millbrook to sleep, they moved to an unblemished record of 6-0 and yet you would be hard pressed to know that coming from the usual banter between the players. No one kid is grandstanding or thumping his chest screaming “we are the best.” In fact, this is the most humble I have seen this team in my 5 year career at Wakefield. Several players had really good games to include the obvious, Mitch, who threw the ball for 486 yards. In fact, right before halftime on the longest as well as quickest drive of the night, he marched the offense down the field in a minute and 23 seconds for the score, leaving Millbrook only about :30 to just fade into the locker room. Of course Millbrook’s Keith Marshall did not go unnoticed with a few breakout runs for the night leaving many saying, “Man, that kid is fast.” Wakefield has really gotten some momentum built up and for the first time in a long time we just might get a little respect, naaa. Wakefield will not just be sitting back on our laurels, because next week is Leesville and that team is always ready to play. Please do not forget that the game this week is on Thursday at home against Leesville Rd. See you then, loyal Wolverine fans.
